Sowing Instructions for Indian Climate: Spinach (Palak)
Best Sowing Time: Late Monsoon (September to October) and Winter (November to January). Can also be grown in early Summer (February) in shaded areas.
Temperature for Germination: 15-25°C. (Spinach prefers cooler weather; high heat can cause it to flower early).
Soil: Rich, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter (compost/manure). Prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH.
Sunlight: Prefers full sun in winter, but needs partial shade during hotter months to prevent leaves from turning bitter.
Watering: Requires consistent moisture. Water regularly to keep the soil damp, but avoid waterlogging.
Spacing: 4-6 inches apart. If sowing in rows, keep rows 10-12 inches apart.
Germination Time: 5-10 days.
Support Needed: No support needed (it is a leafy green, not a climber).
