Red Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) produces iconic, papery, bright scarlet-red flowers with a black centre — one of the most beloved wildflowers in the world. A self-seeding annual that naturalises beautifully in cool-season gardens, creating a dramatic red display from December through February. Known as Lal Posta (Hindi: लाल पोस्ता), Gasagasalu (Telugu: గసగసాలు), Kaskasu (Tamil: கஸ்கஸ்), Khas Khas (Malayalam: ഖസ്ഖസ്), Gasagase (Kannada: ಗಸಗಸೆ). Sow directly — poppies resent transplanting. Allow seed pods to dry on the plant to self-seed for next season's display.
