Elephant Tusk Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) is a large, vigorous variety producing exceptionally long pods — 25–35 cm — resembling an elephant's tusk in shape and size. The pods have a crisp texture when young and are milder in flavour than standard okra. The plant grows tall and is extremely productive. Known as Haathi Dant Bhindi (Hindi: हाथी दांत भिंडी), Pedda Bendakaya (Telugu: పెద్ద బెండకాయ), Periya Vendaikkai (Tamil: பெரிய வெண்டைக்காய்). An impressive garden variety — the long, dramatic pods make this as much a conversation starter as a culinary crop. Harvest at 20–25 cm for best tenderness.
