Red Okra / Red Ladies Finger (Abelmoschus esculentus) is a visually stunning variety producing deep burgundy-red pods with a slightly richer flavour than green okra. The vibrant red colour fades to green on cooking, but the plant itself — with red stems, green leaves, and scarlet pods — is one of the most striking vegetables you can grow. Known as Lal Bhindi (Hindi: लाल भिंडी), Erra Bendakaya (Telugu: ఎర్ర బెండకాయ), Sivappu Vendaikkai (Tamil: சிவப்பு வெண்டைக்காய்), Sivappu Vendakka (Malayalam: ചുവപ്പ് വെണ്ടക്ക). A collector's vegetable — just as productive and nutritious as green okra, but far more beautiful in the garden. Excellent for edible landscaping.
