Watercress (Nasturtium officinale) is a peppery, nutritious aquatic or semi-aquatic leafy green that grows in shallow water or consistently moist soil. One of the oldest consumed vegetables in history, it is prized for its sharp, peppery flavour and exceptional nutritional density — extremely high in Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and antioxidants. Known as Jal Jaluk (Hindi: जलजलुक), and recognised globally by health enthusiasts and chefs. Watercress grows best near a water source, along stream banks, or in containers kept consistently moist. Harvest young sprigs regularly for the freshest, most peppery flavour. Excellent in salads, sandwiches, and juices.
