Hollyhock Mix (Alcea rosea) produces tall, stately spikes in a full range of hollyhock colours — white, cream, yellow, pink, red, burgundy, and deep purple — including both single and semi-double forms. One of the most striking and architectural plants in the cool-season garden, with flower spikes reaching 1.5–2 metres. Known as Gulkhaira (Hindi: गुलखैरा), Althea (Tamil: ஆல்தியா), and Gul-e-Aabas (Urdu: گل عباس). A classic heritage garden flower grown in India since the Mughal period. Hollyhock self-seeds readily — allow some pods to set for a naturalised colony that returns each winter.
