The Red Kanthari Chilli (Capsicum frutescens), also known as Red Bird's Eye Chilli, is a small but devastatingly hot variety prized across South India, especially in Kerala cuisine. The tiny red fruits grow upright in clusters, ripening from green to bright red. They are used whole in tempering, pickles, and traditional fish curries. Known as Kanthari Mulaku (Malayalam: കാന്താരി മുളക്), Natu Mirapa (Telugu: నాటు మిరప), Kodi Milagai (Tamil: கோடி மிளகாய்), Kaadu Menasu (Kannada: ಕಾಡು ಮೆಣಸು), and Kandhari Mirch (Hindi: कंधारी मिर्च). In English: Red Bird's Eye Chilli or Red Sky Chilli.
