The Bullet Chilli (Capsicum annuum) is a popular short, thick, and extremely hot Indian chilli variety shaped like a small bullet. It is widely grown across India for its intense heat and strong pungency, commonly used in pickles, chutneys, and spicy curries. The plant is compact and produces an abundant harvest. It is commonly known as Mirch (Hindi: मिर्च), Mirapakaya (Telugu: మిరపకాయ), Milagai (Tamil: மிளகாய்), Mulaku (Malayalam: മുളക്), Menasinkaayi (Kannada: ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ), Mirchi (Marathi: मिरची). In English it is called Bullet Chilli or Short Hot Chilli. Known in Andhra Pradesh cuisine for its use in traditional spice blends and avakaya (raw mango pickle).
