Broad Beans — Short Variety (Vicia faba) is a compact dwarf form of the traditional broad bean, ideal for smaller gardens, containers, and balcony gardening. It produces the same large, meaty, flavourful seeds as the tall variety but on a much more manageable, self-supporting plant. Known as Bakla (Hindi: बकला), Avarai (Tamil: அவரை), Pavta (Marathi: पावटा). A wonderful cool-season crop — plant in October–November for a harvest in January–February. The compact size makes this variety especially suitable for city gardeners with limited space.
