Cluster Beans / Gawar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is a drought-tolerant warm-season legume widely cultivated across India for its tender pods, which are used in sabzi, dal, and pickles. The seeds are also the source of guar gum, a major industrial crop. Gawar beans thrive in hot, dry conditions and are extremely productive. Known as Guar (Hindi: ग्वार), Goruchikkudu (Telugu: గోరుచిక్కుడు), Kothavarai (Tamil: கொத்தவரை), Kothamara (Malayalam: കൊത്തമര), Gorkayi (Kannada: ಗೋರ್ಕಾಯಿ), and Gavaar (Marathi: गवार). A staple kitchen garden vegetable across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and South India.
