Round Carrot (Daucus carota) is a compact variety producing short, ball-shaped or stubby round roots — ideal for shallow soils, containers, and raised beds where long carrots cannot develop properly. Same sweet flavour as regular carrots but better suited to heavy or rocky soils. Known as Gol Gajar (Hindi: गोल गाजर), Round Carrot is an excellent variety for container gardeners and those with less-than-ideal soil depth. Sweet, crisp, and fully edible — cook whole, roast, or use raw in salads. A practical solution for growing carrots in compact spaces and pots.

Best Sowing Time (North India): Autumn (Sep–Nov), Winter (Dec–Jan) Best Sowing Time (South India): All Year (best Oct–Feb for root quality) Temperature: 15–25°C (cool-season crop) Soil: Deep, loose, stone-free sandy loam enriched with compost. Avoid fresh manure (causes forking). Sunlight: Full sun to light shade Watering: Even, consistent watering; irregular watering causes splitting and forking Spacing: 5–10 cm apart after thinning Germination Time: 7–14 days Tip: Sow directly — root vegetables dislike transplanting. Keep soil well-loosened and deep. Thin seedlings for straight, full-sized roots. Harvest when shoulders push above soil level.
